If Memory Serves…Koppi Flashbacks

Stephan Terblanche came into my life as some sort of marketing assistant to Robin who ran Hilltop Live’s marketing at the time. Back then we had a rather big group of people working and our offices were in the centre of town in Pretoria. So things like Power and Internet was not always stable. Stephan made a big impression on everyone on like day 3 when he single handedly killed our internet by running torrents. He was known as Streaming Steven from then on.
Stephan is first and foremost a music fan. A big one. He love tunes, he loves the messiness and energy of it. the allure of glamour, the stars, the dirty bits, the smells and aches and arseholes of it. He wants to be a part of it and he will do just about anything to ensure that. Unashamedly so, nê Geldwolf.
He is a tenacious little fucker also. I remember one instance when I was forced to make serious cut backs on budgets and he was the only sort of junior employee that i could cut. It was not a fun thing to do, him, me and our boss had a meeting where i broke the news to him. At some stage i had to leave the office for literally 5 minutes to sign for a delivery or something and when i got back he had negotiated himself back into a job! I was pissed off and impressed in equal measures.
Until Covid Stephan played a massive role in music in Pretoria through the venue The Grind (God please let them survive this!) where he is living the life in true grit and grime and glamour – a living testimony to all that is live music.
Cheers man!
